Black Light was an adult humanoid who claimed Deathbird to be his mother, thus giving him (at least partially) Shi’ar avian characteristics including enhanced strength and endurance. He could fire powerful concussive blasts of black energy from his eyes. He could fly; this seems to have been an innate ability as he fell when blasted in mid-air although he had no wings. There appeared to be some of sort of synchronous mental link between him and his sister, White Noise, as he was affected by a stun blast taken by her.As a member of the Shi’ar Imperial Guard, he had training in hand-to-hand fighting and was required to follow the orders of whoever was ruler of the Shi’ar Empire.
