The sixth iteration of the universe (sixth cosmos) was devoured by the Black Winter, leaving just one survivor – Galan of Taa (galactus), whom it picked as its Champion.
The remnant of the ‘sixth cosmos’ was engulfed by the first firmament, after the majority of the sixth cosmos was decimated by the black winter.
In order to reclaim Galactus, the Black Winter infiltrated the Prime Marvel Universe and attacked him, assuming the identity of Thor Odinson. Galactus forced to escape, albeit badly injured, and crash-landed in Asgard, where some of his evil ice contaminated Yggdrasill, causing the World Tree to fester and die slowly.
Powers
The Black Winter may unleash eldritch darkness frost and snow that disintegrates whatever it comes into contact with. Like Galactus, it manifests differently to each person who sees it, usually taking on the form of the person who sees it or being fated to slaughter the onlooker, though it can change form at will.
The Black Winter is a multiversal cosmic behemoth that conducts a similar purpose to Galactus, but on a much larger scale, devouring entire universes rather than just planets.
