Blast was once an astronaut and went to space. Exposure to mysterious meteor fragments gave him his super powers. After meeting other costumed heroes, he formed the Ultra Mega Super Five and gained celebrity-leveled fame.  He oddly has similarities to various incarnations of Starman.  Â
