Bongsquall

Creation

Bongsquall was created by writer John Ney Rieber and artist Ryan Kelly in The Books of Faerie: Molly’s Story issue 2, in 1999.

Major Story Arcs

Bongsquall, also known as the Yes of No, is a small fairy dwarf. He took a correspondence course by the demon Barbatos on how to use self-confidence and assertiveness to gain power over others (in the vein of How to Make Friends and Influence People).

All he needs to do is look at himself in the mirror every day and repeat aloud affirmations about what a great person he is.

Now, if he asks anyone a question, they must answer him Yes, and then do as he wishes. However, he must also answer other people’s questions with a Yes.

He enslaves many fairies and works them literally to death in his service. One fairy he enslaves is Yarrow. However, Molly comes to her rescue. She tricks Bongsquall into saying Yes to drinking some water she has, which is enchanted water.

He shrinks down to minute size, and Molly’s cat Filthy presumably eats him.
