From the day of her birth, Brainiac 4 suffered from a lack of emotion. She abandoned her son, Brainiac 5, in order to look for a life where she could find emotional stimulation. She took on several roles in her life including a beggar and a gambler. It’s when she assumes the role as leader of the Dark Circle that she finally feels a significant amount of emotion. The event in question was when she sent an entire fleet to their deaths. When Brainiac 5 discovers her, she attempts to kill him. Her logic being that if killing strangers made her feel good, than killing her own son would make her feel even better. She is stopped by Legion of Super-Heroes member, Gates, and is put in an insane asylum.
