Origin

Briar Rose is a princess with seven doting fairy godmothers, who promised her the world as long as she avoided things sharp and pointed. Unfortunately, her youthful curiosity got the best of her when she found a cursed spindle and pricked her finger. It left her in an enchanted comatose state, only to be awakened with true love’s kiss. However, her prince-charming-to-be decided to leave her in her slumber as a sleeping wife was less of a bother. He exchanged a vow with her and fought alongside his father-in-law to increase their kingdom, only to let it fall due to their greed.
100 years after falling into her slumber, Briar Rose was awakened to a strange world by a mysterious man.
Creation
Briar Rose debuted in Briar #1 by Christopher Cantwell and German Garcia. She is a darker take on Sleeping Beauty.
Major Story Arcs
Sleepwalker
Once she woke up, Rose had difficulty adjusting to her new surroundings. Her birthright castle was overrun with plant life. She stole the sword and boots off of a dead man lying outside her home and fashioned a cloak from the pelt of a giant rat she was forced to kill in self-defense.
She eventually made it to a pub where she could beg for water. Unfortunately, some ruffians decided to kidnap her and force her into slavery along with a blue-skinned Noorish woman, named Spider, who tried to defend Rose. The two were able to escape after their captors were hunted by desert cannibals and decided they stood a better chance sticking together.
