Brood Queen

Brief History

The Brood are a race of alien parasites that reproduce by implanting their eggs in others. They are a recurring enemy of the X-Men, Shi’ar, Carol Danvers and others in the Marvel Universe.

In a 1992 edition of X-Men Classic, Ororo is infected by the queen with a Brood embryo. The only way for Storm to rid her body of this monster was to release herself into outer-space. During this experience, her mutant abilities, sustained by a variety of living worlds and stars in her vicinity, save her. And, she becomes bonded to a star-beast, Acanti.

• The Brood Queen appears as an enemy in X-Men 2: Clone Wars.
• The Brood Queen appears as a boss character in X-Men: Mutant Apocalypse.

Merchandise

• The Brood Queen was included in the HeroClix figure game.
• The Brood Queen was the subject of a Marvel Legends Build-a-Figure wave from Hasbro. Each figure in the wave (WW2 Captain America, Black Knight, X-Men: The Last Stand Colossus, Cyclops, Danger, Rachel Summers and a HYDRA soldier) came with a piece of the Brood Queen, meaning that the toy could be assembled after collecting the series.
