Buck is a powerful St. Bernard-Scotch Collie mix who is stolen from his comfortable life and sold to become a sled dog in the Klondike region of Canada. The story details Buck’s struggle to survive in the face of great cruelty and hardship. He eventually sheds all semblance of civilization and becomes a strong, primordial creature.
