While Carole was attending university, she met Peter and fell in love with him, as the relationship grew she became more involved in his life, she even became a favourite of Aunt May, which Carole used to her advantage.
Unfortunately due to her joining with a cult, finding out their leader was a mental escaped prisoner and telling Spider-man who who exposed him, she fell victim to their murderous machinations for her betrayal and to stay safe, she decided to leave the city and Peter forever.
