Cassandra Pentaghast

Origin

Cassandra Pentaghast (Cassandra Allegra Portia Calogera Filomena Pentaghast) is a tough, righteous and resilient warrior, Seeker, and formerly the Right Hand of the Divine. She is of noble origins, specifically Neverran nobility and royalty, born to Lord Mathias and Lady Tigana, which makes her seventy-eighth in line to the Nevarran throne. While she was still young however, her parents took part in a coup, to overthrow the then King, King Markus Pentaghast. The attempt failed and her parents were executed, however due to Cassandra and her older brothers young age, they were spared and sent to live with their Uncle, Vestalus, a senior member of the Mortalitasi. The Mortalitasi, Neverran Mages who wield vast political power, influence and also specialize in magic involving energy released with death, and also the study and of death, as well as certain rituals, practices involving death. According to Cassandra herself, her Uncle was especially dedicated to his Mortalitasi duties so much of claiming he spent more time with the dead than the living.

At some point, her Brother Anthony a Dragon Hunter ran afoul of some Blood Mages, when he refused to participate in their rituals. The Mages would cruelly kill Anthony in front of Cassandra, who was only 12 at the time, the tragic event saddening and angering her. Wanting revenge she would attempt to become a Templar, but her Uncle would send her to become a Seeker instead.

Creation

Cassandra Pentaghast is a fictional character, created for the Dragon Age franchise. She has an important supporting role in Dragon Age II, a large role as a playable character in Dragon Age Inquisition, and a starring role in Dragon Age: Dawn of the Seeker.
