Selina Kane was a brilliant scientist and was a pioneer in the field of gene-splicing. Curious to see if the methods she used to create new animals by combining DNA would work on humans, she injected herself with a serum containing lynx DNA. She was transformed into a cat-like creature with amazing abilities. She found herself not only having all of the natural abilities of a cat, but the lynx’s predatory nature as well. She managed to channel the lynx’s urge to hunt into a need to steal. She began to rob the homes of many wealthy people, taking all their jewelry and gold. This led her to cross paths with the Bat-Man, who despite his initial attraction to her, caught her and stopped her crime-spree.
