Origin
Cay is the younger brother of Ulic Qel-Droma’s and a Jedi Knight who learned about the Force from Master Arca on Arkania. Cay was born on Alderaan to noble parents. Like their mother, Cay and Ulic were both Jedi Knights. Cay was not as strong in the force as his brother, but had a more level-headed approach to being a Jedi and was not prone to quick actions and emotions like his brother. He was close friends Tott Doneeta, a Twilek Jedi and another of Master Arca’s apprentices. One of Cay’s strengths was his ability to repair machines.
Onderon
Ulic, Cay and Tott were dispatched to Onderon by Master Arca to mediate the planet’s growing unrest. Cay lost his arm in the battle between the Beastmasters and the Onderonians. He found a damaged droid nearby and built himself a prosthetic arm. He also helped prevent the Freedon Nadd uprising on Onderon.
The Great Sith War
Cay was greatly dismayed when Ulic attempted to infiltrate the Krath by pretending to turn to the Dark Side. Eventually Ulic turned to the darkside and Cay was dragged into the Sith War because of it. He tried many times to reach his brother and return him to the Light Side, but with no success. Cay tried to speak on behalf of his brother when he was brought to trial on Coruscant. This plea was interrupted by the appearance of Exar Kun, who defeated the Jedi and freed Ulic. Cay continued to fight against the Sith, and again met his brother in battle on the planet Ossus. Cay and Ulic were engaged in a dogfight that ended when Ulic shot Cay down. Only Cay’s piloting skills kept him alive. They fought again on the planet’s surface and Cay pleaded with Ulic to return to the Light side of the Force. Ulic refused, and the two fought a ferocious lightsaber duel. Cay was never as strong as his brother and was not fighting to kill. This left an opening for Ulic, who was able to strike down his brother. Realizing the horror of what he had done, Ulic rushed to his side. Cay died in Ulic’s arms, which allowed the part of Ulic that was still good to gain control of him once more and return him to the light side of the force. The Jedi Nomi Sunrider used her powers to cut Ulic off from the force after seeing what he had done to his brother. Cay’s death was the catalyst that brought about the end of the Sith War. A powerless Ulic led the Jedi to Exar Kun’s base on Yavin 4 to try and make up for his actions. There the Jedi were able to defeat Kun and the war ended. A powerless Ulic wandered the galaxy for years, trying to redeem himself for the death of his brother and the other dark acts he committed during the war. He named his starship “Cay’s Dream” after his brother.
