Current Events

Cersei Lannister was the first born child of Tywin and Joanna Lannister; born mere moments before her brother Jaime Lannister. Cersei and Jaime were only nine years old when their younger brother, “the Imp”, Tyrion Lannister was born. His birth caused the death of their mother, and the subsequent withdrawal of their father- leading him to become emotionally cold to their needs.

It was around this time that Tywin Lannister made plans for Cersei to marry the then-Prince Rhaegar of the Targaryen House. However, this plan eventually fell through, with King Aerys Targaryen choosing Elia Martell to marry Rhaegar instead. This was just one of the many incidents which fueled Cersei’s overwhelming desire for power at all costs.

At her father’s appointment as the “Hand of the King”, Cersei was taken to King’s Landing; and away from her brother. After Jaime had been knighted, he traveled to King’s Landing to join his sister. It was there that she persuaded him to join the Kingsguard. Unfortunately, Tywin Lannister saw this as a move by Aerys Targaryen to stop the negotiations of marriage between Jaime and Lysa Tully. Tywin then resigned as Hand to the King and moved back to Casterly Rock, taking Cersei with him. It should be noted that Jaime and Cersei had engaged in an incestuous relationship in their childhood, which would explain Cersei’s desire to have her brother close at hand. At the end of the Civil War, which had erupted due to Robert Baratheon‘s rebellion, Jaime delivered a fatal blow to Aerys Targaryen, earning him the title of “Kingslayer”. As a result, Robert was announced the new king of Westeros and- by the decree of the “Royal Alliance” between the Lannisters and the Ruling house, a marriage was arranged between Cersei and Robert. Of course, true to form, Cersei was initially delighted by the prospect of being Queen of the Seven Kingdoms; which she considered her rightful station. But, perhaps inevitably, the marriage quickly disintegrated beyond repair, when, upon consummation of their marriage, Robert referred to her as “Lyanna“. Cersei then resumed her relationship with Jaime, eventually siring three children from their union; Joffrey, Myrcella and Tommen, all of which she managed to pass off as Robert’s true heirs.

Cersei is a very ambitious and cunning woman, who hates the restrictions put on her because of her gender. She is a physically beautiful but morally repulsive and fiercely protective of her children.
