Medusa summoned her mother, Ceto, in a desire to bring about a new world, one ruled by Medusa and her family. However, Ceto only wished to erase all the old stories and start one anew, and after being persuaded by Batwoman, Wonder Woman took her away to do just that.
Background
Medusa said Ceto was the daughter of Earth and Sea who became the goddess of the oceans. She fell in love with Phorcys and their union resulted in the birth of nymphs, dragons, sea serpents, witches, and Medusa amongst others. The children of the Olympians were sent to hunt them and Ceto was brought before Zeus who banished her, stripping away her beauty and history.
