Cheeta is a chimpanzee friend of Tarzan in films and in the 1966 television series. Cheeta replaced Nkima, or Tarzan’s monkey friend in our books and adapted to the Filmation’s animated series.
Contrary to popular legend, Cheeta was played by several chimpanzees.
Curiously, the name Cheeta refers to felines, both Cheetah and leopards that free us from Tarzan, which are called sheeta in the Mangani language.
