Chief Cromwell refused to join the Religion of Crime and was tortured for it. Doctor Dupree inflicted great pain on Cromwell until Jonah Hex and Amadeus Arkham saved him. As a form of retribution, Colonel Hammersmith ordered a drive-by shooting. A stagecoach strolled down a street where Jonah was having a discussion with Arkham, Cromwell and Kane. A mini-gun popped out of the stagecoach and a spray of bullets killed Cromwell instantly. Â Â
