Origin
Clay was briefly mentioned in the first issue of Action Comics (2011) but he didn’t appear until issue five of the series. He gained his powers after volunteering to Project K-Man, a project run by Doctor Abernathy but in fact administered by Lex Luthor. Going toe-to-toe with Superman and John Henry Irons he was eventually defeated and taken into custody by General Sam Lane.
The character’s story also resembles that of a wife beater that appeared in Action Comics #1, the very first appearance of Superman.
Creation
Clay Ramsay was created by Action Comics writer Grant Morrison and was first drawn by artist Andy Kubert.
