Cobra Kid

History

Note: The Cobra Kid’s partnership to TWO superheroes calling themselves Black Cobra MAY seem a bit confusing to some. Originally Cobra Kid first appeared in Captain Flight Comics #8 in 1945, where Bob Hornsby is the younger brother and kid sidekick to Jim Hornsby. Then, Cobra Kid reappears in the pages of Ajax-Farrell‘s short lived Black Cobra comic book series in 1954. This time, however, Bob isn’t addressed by his secret identity. He merely is an FBI office boy without a name who works with Steve Drake AND he wears a completely different costume from the one he wore before. Evidence may suggest that Cobra Kid was recycled and reprinted onto a different comic book company to fill the void of story material and no lawsuit was filed back then under copyright infringements or plagiarism. Since his appearance in both 1945 and 1954, The Cobra Kid is in public domain.
