Crazy Lightning was created by writer John Ney Rieber and artist Peter Snejbjerg in The Books of Magic issue 33 in 1997.
Major Story Arcs
Crazy Lightning sits and smokes outside a ghost town in the American West. It is literally a ghost town, full of ghosts of Hollywood western actors. If they ever learn to care about anything besides themselves, they can stop being ghosts.
When Tim Hunter shows up and asks questions, Crazy Lightning turns into snake and bites him to poison him, then bites him again to heal him after Tim apologizes for being a smart aleck.
Crazy Lightning says he is both the ancestral snake of humanity, and the ghost of everything that has died there, even the horses.
Tim tries to get the ghosts in the town to care, but they wonât. When he comes back, he and Tim talk thoughtfully before Tim moves on.
