Cynosure appeared first as a male character in Nova but in Guardians of the Galaxy, was depicted as a female character. She explain this, stating that the Cynosure mantle is an hereditary title. It’s obvious then that the first Cynosure was murdered.

Cynosure was created by Dan Abnett, Andy Lanning and Wellington Alves in 2007 and first appeared in Nova # 8.
