History
Damper is one of the founding members and unofficial leader of the Posse, a gang of teenagers gifted with magical powers. They keep each other safe, hiding from the law and notably the crime lord La Dama.
Damper usually lets the whole group in on major decisions, and his Dampening powers have saved the gang from several tight situations. Although the Posse is a tight group, his relation with member Bonita turned into more then friendship during their five years of hiding and protecting gifted people from the pressures of their lifestyle.
Damper joins Probe in her investigation of an extraordinary case who could become the Posse newest member. They spy on Jaime Reyes while cloaked, discovering that he is able to see through Damper’s cloaking field. Although Probe is convinced the boy is one of them, Damper wants to make sure, so the three make contact. Damper gives the Jaime the nickname ‘Scooter’ and invites him to join the Posse if Probe can get a clear fix on his powers.
Scooter, thinking the Posse is just an ordinary gang, waves them of and blocks Probe from reading his mind. Something in the boy’s mind lashes out at her, blasting her mind strongly enough that she needs medical attention. Furious, Damper rushes her from the scene, warning Jaime that the Posse take care of their own. Damper gathers the entire Posse, not knowing it was the Scarab fused to Jaime’s spine that put Probe in the hospital. The group tries to intimidate the boy into revealing what he had done but the scarab takes over again. Firing up a blue armor, it defeats the whole gang with ease. After that, Jaime goes missing.
In less then 9 months, Bonita gives birth to a healthy daughter who they name Alina. But La Dama’s thugs are hot on their tails, constructing a machine that can see beyond Damper’s dampening field. He is eventually surprised and attacked at the border while accompanied by the Posse’s newest member, Paco. Fortunately for the pair, Scooter returns out of the blue, fighting off the thugs before flying away with Paco. Damper himself managed to escape in the confusion.
Damper and the Posse come to be friends with Blue Beetle, the local superhero. Damper later helps Jaime and the Teen Titans to fend off an attack by Doctor Polaris’ henchmen.
