Origin
Daniel “Dan” Jermain was originally a safety inspector for the Roxxon Energy Corporation. One day however, while he and a few fellow workers were installing ‘danger’ signs on some catwalks, Dan wound up getting accidentally knocked into an open vat of hard atomic water. Instead of killing him, the radioactive exposure wound up granting Dan atomic-based superhuman powers, making him “larger, stronger, and more powerful.”
Creation
Danger Man was created by Dan Slott and Juan Bobillo. He first appeared in She-Hulk #2.
Major Story Arcs
Class Action Comics
Dan unfortunately soon found his new-found powers to be more of a burden than a blessing. He wound up accidentally injuring his wife after being unable to control his own strength, he nearly destroyed his entire house by accident, and he was considered a freak in his neighborhood. What’s more is that Dan’s insurance didn’t cover any kind of superhuman-related accidents or injuries, so he and his family were quickly going broke.
Dan therefore turned to the law firm of Goodman, Lieber, Kurtzberg & Holliway in order to sue Roxxon. She-Hulk, as Jennifer Walters, wound up being assigned to his case, and managed to successfully sue Roxxon, granting Dan $85,000,000 to pay for the stress, treatment, and therapy for his family.
Time of Her Life
When She-Hulk was placed on trial by the Time Variance Authority for crimes against the time-stream, Dan was one of the many witnesses called to testify on her behalf.
Powers and Abilities
Dan possesses superhuman strength, he can breathe underwater, he has superhuman hearing, and he’s able to emit destructive atomic energy beams. By channeling his energy through his hands, Dan is able to use it to create an “atomic punch.”
Unfortunately, Dan can’t become enraged or stressed for prolonged periods of time, as doing so runs the risk of his powers going out of control and he could possibly have a self-destructive meltdown.
