Origin
Very little is known about the origin of Derek Almond. Presumably born and raised in England, he came to some prominence in the Norsefire government, where he was made the leader of the paramilitary secret police force, the Finger.
Creation
Derek Almond was created by Alan Moore and David Lloyd. He made his first appearance in Warrior #2.
Major Story Arcs
V for Vendetta
Following the terrorist actions of V Almond is berated by Adam Susan for the failure of his Fingermen to capture V the night before. He is placed in charge of the investigation of V’s activities, delegating some of his authority to Eric Finch to speed the process along. During an encounter with his wife Rosemary Almond, towards whom he is very abusive, Almond threatens her with an unloaded weapon. Warned by Finch that V is heading to the home of Delia Surridge, he immediately departs for her house, neglecting to reload his gun. He is killed when he confronts V and attempts to shoot him with the unloaded gun.
