Hampton meets with James Gordon to discuss a string of homicides down at the Gotham docks and the escape of the Arkham Asylum Inmates. Gordon believed Penguin to be behind the release of the inmates, but Hampton argued that he can’t just arrest someone on a hunch. Hampton also argued that Gordon has relied on Batman for far too long and that his office has yet to lock up the major players in the gang war.
As Hampton is about to leave, Firefly attacks the police station, blowing it up. Jane Doe then enters Gordon’s office disguised as a police officer, and shoots Hampton, killing him.
