Dr. Michael Barnett

Dr. Michael Barnett was a young but respected psychologist with an office in Manhattan. His most notable patient was Carol Danvers, back when she was still having trouble adjusting to her dual identity as Ms. Marvel. Barnett helped Carol come to terms with being a superhero, and the relationship between the two eventually became more than platonic. Their romance was tragically cut short when Ms. Marvel’s shape-shifting nemesis, Mystique, disguised herself as Carol and murdered Barnett in his office.  

Creation

Dr. Michael Barnett was created by Gerry Conway and John Buscema in 1977 and first appeared in Ms. Marvel # 1.
