Dragon-Lord

Tako Shamara took up the mantel of the Dragon Lord in order to protect his native Korean fishing village from the monstrous reptilian creature called the Wani.

Tako’s journey along the path of the hero actually began centuries earlier when the residents of that same fishing village made the mistake of riling up minor Korean deity and notorious crank O-Wata-Tsu-Mi, who unleashed the Wani on them. Tako’s ancestor, also named Tako Shamara, repelled the creature and his son Kiri vowed their bloodline would fend off the monster should he ever return.

Creation

Dragon-Lord was created by Marv Wolfman and Steve Ditko in 1980 and first appeared in Marvel Spotlight # 5. 

Story Arcs

The Initiative

After countless years of magic being handed down through his family, Tako stepped up to the plate and hit a home run that got the attention of Tony Stark and the Initiative.

He was later killed during the attack of KIA as he was trying to summon a dragon at the time and his ashes were presented to his family in an urn by members of the Initiative. His son declared his intention to take over his father’s mantle to which Taskmaster sarcastically replied that the Initiative was going to need more urns. 

Powers & Abilities

Dragon-Lord is capable of conjuring various monsters by reciting various spells and adding special ingredients like herbs into his black cauldron. He is also capable of seeing visions from the smoke in his cauldron and create a mist that can snare opponents. Dragon-Lord also carries a sword that has been passed down from generation to generation for five hundred years.
