The son of Mrs. Carter Dudley’s husband’s brother, Earle is the nephew that can never seem to take care of himself. He constantly tries to woo his aunt’s assistants as a way to get close to his aunt and weasel his way into more money.
Major Story Arcs
Earle is disinherited when Mrs. Carter Dudley finds him forging checks. He is angry but figures that a relationship with the current assistant, Arlene, will get him some inside information on how to get some money. He is delighted to hear that Arlene will inherit all of Mrs. Carter Dudley’s and arranges to meet Arlene to get secretly married. Mrs. Carter Dudley is one step ahead of him, however, and books a boat to Italy. On the boat, Arlene gets engaged to Kirk Martingale and Earle’s hopes of easy money are dashed to bits.
