Biography
It is presumed that Ebikar Hrui received the power ring sometime after the death of Fentara of Graxos IV ,assuming the mantle of Green Lantern of Space Sector 2815.
In his only documented mission, Ebikar Hrui was dispatched by his masters, the Guardians of the Universe, to neutralize a rogue star. The orange-hued star was traveling through space, actively searching out and destroying sentient life forms. Hundreds of Ebikar Hrui’s people had been killed by the star and eight Green Lanterns had died in failed attempts to halt further destruction.
Approaching the star, the Green Lantern felt his will grow stronger and his courage even greater. As he plunged into its fiery depths he felt invincible. Like the eight Green Lanterns before him, Ebikar Hrui perished in the heart of the rogue star.
It was later discovered that the rogue star was not a natural phenomenon. The outside glowed orange but inside it burned hotter, one step up the spectrum to yellow, the color over which the emerald energy could offer no protection. Green Lantern of Space Sector 2814, Hal Jordan of Earth and Barry Allen (the Flash) revealed Sinestro was in control of what was called the Empathistar.
A weapon based on an ancient Qwardian god-myth, the empathistar amplified the personality traits of its victims. For members of the Green Lantern Corps, this meant they would ignore their sense of self-preservation and plunge headlong to their deaths. The Flash and Green Lantern of Earth were able to defeat Sinestro and destroy the Empathistar.
As a Fallen Lantern Ebikar Hrui was memorialized in the Crypts of Oa, but during the Blackest Night, he was raised by a black power ring along with many other Fallen Lanterns and became a Black Lantern.
Space Sector 2815 would later be protected by Blish of Graxos V, and following his death, Arisia of Graxos IV, the daughter of Fentara.
