Eddie Peck was a Grail commando, a soldier who went where The Grail sent him. During a raid on the house of Jesus DeSade, Peck was badly injured – he lost one eye and his spine was sheared by a bullet, leaving him a paraplegic. His kidneys failed, and he was put into long-term hospital care.
Featherstone thought that such injury in the service of the Grail should be compensated, and so paid for him to have the best treatment possible.
This act of kindness would backfire on both her and Starr. When Eisenstein needed information to figure out what Starr had been up to in the last year, he started with Eddie Peck. He used his ex-Spetsnaz bodyguard to persuade Eddie to tell him everything he knew about the raid on DeSade’s mansion, and then used that information to deduce Starr’s ultimate plan.
