Story

Elias Flynn was a conman and a thief who, after hustling some men in a card game with the help of Carl Holster, ran into a group of five young people discovering glowing crystals in Madison Square Park. He and Carl waste no time in swindling two crystals from them and soon all seven people are bathed in multicolored light emanating from the crystals. They leave they’re separate ways and each develops powers. Flynn shows that he has the ability to control the others. He uses his new found power to force the group to give him the crystals and has them form a super team called the Metahumes. Flynn trains the Metahumes and sends them to rob a back as a test. Soon after he orchestrates a deal to sell the Metahumes and the crystals. When the deal starts going south Flynn tries and fails to control the other man who at this point sends his hired muscle, the Seekers, to finish the deal. The Metahumes deal with the Seekers handily but then have to face the heroes: Nova, Speedball, Darkhawk, and Spider-Man. Flynn takes two nearby people as hostage to get the Metahumes out of there. As the team enters they’re hideout, Flynn is confronted alone by a group named the Hostiles. Flynn is disintegrated and his hold lifts from Metahumes. Unfortunately, the Hostiles have been planning to take control of the Metahumes from Flynn from the start. After Spider-Man and the others manage to free the Metahumes they all defeat the Hostiles. Now free from all control the Metahumes can choose they’re own fates.
