Hopkins was chosen as a husband to Sybil to birth an anti-chist. After the deed was done he changed his mind and wanted to save the boy. Sybil tried to stop him but was too late and she was fried in the sun.
Hopkins tried to raise the boy as proper as possible, he gave Ian education in law and he became a lawyer. Eventually Ian had his own family and son named Jack. When Ian was killed and he returned as a vampire, Hopkins revealed that he is his true father, but didn’t want to kill him. Ian still feeling human, attacked Hopkins to make him kill him. Unfortunately the Vrykola curse didn’t stop with Ian, as his son Jack was known as the Ripper in England in 1888.
