Ellison Payton was assaulted and kidnapped by Sauron in New York City. Sauron drained him of his life force to sustain his own existence as he relied on doing so to prevent his host, Carl Lykos, taking control of his own body. It is not known if Ellison survived the experience.

Ellison has a supernatural understanding of numbers, which he used to great effect to manipulate the stock exchange to his benefit.
