Elmer Kittenclaws

Character History

Elmer Kittenclaws was a genius, drug-addled, hippy graduate student in science at Berkeley when he met Tujiro XIV. Tujiro, a vampire, was in his totem form of a cat. This was the first time Tujiro had been seen since the era of Christine Spar, hundreds of years earlier.

Tujiro turned him into a vampire and the weak-minded Elmer started to work for him. Sixty or seventy years later, Tujiro decided to go undercover within the Church, and he eventually became Pope Innocent XLII.

Elmer began building the Sun-Gun for him, an incredibly advanced weapon that could obliterate the sun. It used 600 tons of bananas to work.

The Sun-Gun was finally ready. Innocent was going to use it during his Easter mass. Orion Assante, a public crusader, and Pellon Cross, a competing vampire, both confronted Elmer before the mass, but neither had time to deal with him. Finally the Sun-Gun was raised into position, but at that moment, Grendel and Orion’s army separately attacked. Grendel knocked Innocent away from the firing controls. The desperate Elmer reached for the firing button and managed to hit it. The Sun-Gun was blown off its foundation by Orion’s army just as it fired, and the flailing energy beam hit Innocent, disintegrating him.

The Sun-Gun’s tower collapsed, and Elmer presumably died within it.

Elmer’s technology was later revived by Orion, and used to create the Sun Disc, a satellite-based weapon that could blast concentrated sunlight down on the Earth. Orion used it to destroy the country of Great Japan.
