Esther Wiesburg is the twin sister of Ray, and the daughter of Ed Wiesburg, a prominent diamond merchant.
She either poisons or persuades her father that he is sick and begins to manipulate the family business. She puts together a complicated scheme to take advantage of the other diamond merchants, which will give her father’s company a huge profit. However, she is also intentionally setting it up so that Grendel, the city’s crime lord, will get a much smaller cut than he normally would. She blackmails the family lawyer to change Ed’s will so that she and Ray will get almost all the money if he dies.
Lieutenant Polk stumbles on the plot and investigates, eventually figuring it all out. However, when he confronts her, Grendel and Argent also show up. Grendel wants to kill Ed, but ends up disarming Polk. Meanwhile, Ed dies of a heart attack. She persuades Ray, who was not part of the plot, to go with her to Brazil. Ray picks up Polk’s gun and kills him, then they run away. However, their assets are frozen, and they die of starvation.
