Wife of Argentinian President Juan Peron. She was First Lady of Argentina from 1946 until her death (from cancer at the age of 33) in 1952. Known formally as Eva Peron, she was affectionately called Evita by her supporters. Though much-beloved among the working class, she had many critics.
