Creation
Fable was created as character in the twelve part mini-series titled Pantheon and was part of its main superhero team the Freedom Machine. She was created by Bill Willingham and Mike Leeke and was introduced in Pantheon’s first printed by Lone Star Press in 2007.
History
The young woman calling herself Fable is a shapechanger, able to alter her form into various mythological creatures. Her origins are not known but she joined the superhero group called the Freedom Machine and went up its ranks as its resident archivist. She also became the groups apparent second in command and trusted confidant of its leader Dynasty. Her younger sister Menagerie who also has similar shapeshifting abilities later joined the ranks of the Freedom Machine graduating from the Teen Machine.
Fable would be part of a dark period in the Machine’s history when Daedalus a former member and powerful telekinetic freed several of the Machine’s arch enemies. Gathering these several villain’s Daedalus planed to seek vengeance on the Machine and not only destroy its reputation but kill its many past and present members. Fable fought Dr. Meggido alongside Manitou, Shadowpax, and Eden to recapture the magical villain while her other teammates tried the same. However Daedalus was not the only one amassing his forces to irradiate the Freedom Machine. The US government and Johnny Venture and his Darkside Rangers had started an operation named Red Sky.
During an assault against Daedalus and his forces on Fort Silence the US government and the Darkside Rangers released Deathboy, parachuting him over the Island. Using his deathray vision he made the entire island and everyone on it to disappear from the planet Earth. This included Fable and the rest of the heroes who had been completely unaware that during their focus on Daedalus and his war that they had been duped by their own friends and government.
Powers
Fable has complete control of her shape and form, able to transform into any mythological creature she knows about. She has been known to transform into a dragon, a matricore, and a giant hag monster. Where she gains the extra mass in not known when she transforms into a larger creature.
