Fire Chief Hogan is a serious leader of the Metropolis Fire Department. When Clark Kent was given a volunteer fire fighter job for a Daily Planet story he was doing, Hogan sent him on all the most dangerous assignments in order to force him to quit or allow Hogan to fire him as he believed the untrained Kent posed a threat to the department.
