Sarah Hassan, the eldest of the Hassan sisters, was born into a family with a deep connection to the supernatural and a strong tradition of fighting against dark forces. From a young age, Sarah was recognized for her exceptional physical strength and keen intellect, traits that made her stand out even in a family as remarkable as hers. She grew up hearing stories of the Defenders of Eden and their sacred mission to protect humanity from the forces of darkness, and these tales inspired her to follow in her ancestors’ footsteps.
Even as a child, Sarah exhibited a level of physical strength that was far beyond what anyone in her family had ever seen. Tasks that would normally require significant effort, such as lifting heavy objects or performing strenuous physical activities, came easily to her. Her parents, though astonished, attributed it to natural talent and rigorous training, but Sarah soon realized that there was something far more unusual at play.
After completing her basic education, Sarah joined the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), where she excelled in both physical training and tactical operations. Her time in the IDF honed her combat skills and instilled in her a deep sense of discipline and duty. During her military training, Sarah’s strength was unparalleled. She easily outperformed her peers, whether in hand-to-hand combat, obstacle courses, or endurance challenges. Her superiors were both impressed and bewildered by her capabilities. However, after a routine haircut, while still stronger than most women and a lot of the men, Sarah experienced a noticeable decrease in her strength during a particularly grueling exercise.
In addition to this discovery, Sarah noticed that her hair grew at an unusually rapid rate. While others would go weeks between haircuts, Sarah found herself needing trims far more frequently. The accelerated growth and the fluctuations in her strength made her realize that her abilities were not merely physical but were tied to something far deeper—perhaps even divine. She noticed when her hair grew back her strength seemed to come back. This was the first time she consciously connected her strength to the length of her hair. Testing her theory, Sarah decided to let her hair grow longer, testing the limits of her strength. As her hair grew, so did her power, reaching levels that made her nearly invincible in combat.
Sarah Hassan’s wisdom is one of her most defining traits, often compared to the legendary wisdom of King Solomon. Her insight and discernment in both everyday life and the heat of battle set her apart as a natural leader. Sarah possesses an uncanny ability to assess situations from multiple angles, foresee potential outcomes, and make decisions that benefit not just herself but the entire team. The IDF were intensely interested in her, but she left after three years, though she only needed to stay for two.
One day Sarah followed her brother to a local night spot, wondering where he goes at night. She saw him leave a local night spot, but noticed a woman follow him. When he moved down an alley, she attacked him. While Adam held his own, it was obvious she was getting the best of him and possibly truly capable of hurting him. Sarah surprised him and pulled the woman off of him throwing her against a brick wall, not realizing she what she was. They fought, Sarah shocked by her strength became more aggressive, but Adam pulled out an axe, told her to get back and removed the monster’s head, horrifying Sarah. It was then Adam revealed what the Defenders of Eden were and how their family are involved.
When the family moved to America Sarah fully embraced her identity as a warrior blessed with the strength of Samson. Her unique abilities, combined with her strong faith and tactical mind, led to her joining the Defenders of Eden, where she quickly earned the title “The Fist of God.” Now, she uses her extraordinary gifts to protect humanity from supernatural threats, while still seeking to understand the full extent of the power that lies within her.
Story Arcs
Aside from the Epitaph: Bread and Salt movie Sarah has only be seen once in the original Victor Locke Demon Hunter issue 3 when Victor comes to speak with her sister Rebecca about the Neo-Nephilim gang N-Rage. Sarah’s relationship with Victor is somewhat adversarial as she knows Rebecca is smitten with him and Victor is obviously a different race and religion and is often surrounded by questionable women both human and supernatural and is protective for many reasons, but at the same time knows he’s good to have on their side. She is actually the one that ends up giving him the information.
Powers and Abilities
Sarah Hassan possesses extraordinary physical strength, which is closely tied to the length of her hair. As her hair grows longer, her strength increases, allowing her to overpower low-level supernatural creatures with ease. At her peak, she can lift immense weights, break through barriers, and hold her own against powerful demonic entities. She also moves quicker, can take greater physical damage and heals faster from said damage. While she doesn’t heal as fast as many supernatural creatures, she heals much faster than an average human, with cuts and scrapes healing in minutes and fractures and breaks healing in days, versus weeks. In addition to her strength, Sarah has a deep and unwavering faith, which gives her a unique resilience against fear and doubt. This strong faith also grants her a form of divine protection, making her highly resistant to curses and dark magic. Sarah is also known for her strategic mind, often making wise and tactical decisions in the heat of battle, drawing comparisons to the biblical figures of David and Solomon. Her combat training with the IDF has made her a skilled fighter, proficient in various forms of hand-to-hand combat and weaponry, making her one of the most powerful and respected members of the Defenders of Eden.
