Creation
Writer Jadzia Axelrod was asked to pitch ideas for DC’s Graphic Novels for Young Adults, and included at the bottom the idea for an original Trans superhero. To Axelrod’s surprise, this idea is what DC went for, and so she and artist Jess Taylor worked together to create what would become Galaxy: The Prettiest Star, the original graphic novel which details Galaxy’s origin.
Shortly after The Prettiest Star’s release, Axelrod was offered a new Hawkgirl mini-series, and included Galaxy as a prominent supporting character. Here saw the debut of Galaxy’s superhero costume as well as being aged up to 22, after having only been 16 in The Prettiest Star.
History
Origin
Taelyr Ilextrix-spiir Biarxiiai was born in the middle of a conflict between the peaceful planet Cyandii and a conquering hive-mind known as The Vane, being the only daughter of Cyandii’s Queen. When her homeworld was about to be defeated, the Oueen’s most trusted general brought Taelyr and two other children to hide on Earth, using Cyandian technology to disguise themselves as a human family.
Taelyr was disguised as a human boy named Taylor Barzelay until meeting her girlfriend Kat Silverberg at the age of 16. Kat helped Taelyr embrace her true self and even gave her the superhero name “Galaxy”.
Powers & Abilities
Like many from the planet Cyandii, Galaxy can fly and manipulate energies around her such as heat, gravity and electricity.
