Even more so than the Civil War, Custer is best known for losing the Batlle of the Little BigHorn, where he and his troops were massacred by Sitting Bull, Crazy Horse and other Native American chiefs and their warriors. The battle has long been commonly called “Custers Last Stand”. The site has now been preserved for all time and is called Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument.
