George Harrison

Pop star, songwriter, recording artist, as well as music and film producer. Born February 25, 1943 in Liverpool, England. The youngest of Harold and Louise French Harrison’s four children, George Harrison played lead guitar and sometimes sang lead vocals for the Beatles . He was introduced to John Lennon’s band ,the Quarrymen by Paul McCartney and joined the band and later the band was named the Beatles. He has wrote various songs for the Beatles such as Taxman,Here Comes the Sun and Something. Even with the Beatles huge success they broke up over disagreements.

Solo Career

Before the Beatles broke up in 1970 George Harrison already had two solo albums released Wonderwall Music and Electric Sound. Harrison blended Indian and western sounds to his music. After he split from the Beatles he made his first real solo album, All Things Must Pass. George Harrison organized a charity concert, The Concert of Bangladesh, on August 1st 1971. In 1988 Harrison formed the Traveling Willburys with Jeff Lynne, Roy Orbison, Bob Dylan and Tom Petty.

Death of George Harrison

George Harrison was revealed to have lung cancer in 1997. He was successfully treated by radiotherapy. In July of that year he received radiotherapy for a brain tumor at a clinic in Switzerland. Despite the operations he still died. He died on November the 29th 2001. Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr performed at a concert for George in memory of his death. It was held at the Royal Albert Hall. The profits went from the concert went to a charity foundation George Harrison made.

He is also one of the stars of the upcoming graphic novel (and film) The Fifth Beatle, about his original manager, Brian Epstein.
