Gilbert Giles

Gilbert is not only a brilliant medical doctor and biologist but he also the father of Gloria Giles who is the girlfriend of Henry Heywood Also known as Commander Steel.  Gilbert saved Henry when he was mortally wounded in a state side explosion caused by a couple of saboteurs in World War II.  
 
Gilbert replaced Henry’s damaged bones with steel alloy tubing, his skull with some metal casting, and micro-motors in all his joints to help him move his steel body.  He also replaced Henry’s Lung with an artificial one and back up devices to replace his damaged heart.
