History
Giran is one of the finalist in the 21st World Martial Arts Tournament, where he is pitted against Goku in a match. However after Goku defeats Giran’s tricks he quickly surrenders. Giran is killed three years later by Tambourine who is searching out past participants of the World Martial Arts Tournament to ensure their is no threat to King Piccolo. He is however brought back by the Dragon Balls following King Piccolo’s defeat, along with all of his other victims. Giran is however killed again once again alongside the majority of the world’s population by Buu, but is revived once again by the Dragon Balls. He and his village then give energy to Goku for use in his Spirit Bomb.
Powers and Abilities
Giran was powerful enough to get to the final rounds of the 21st World Martial Arts Tournament, thanks to his species being stronger than humans. It is unknown how Giran ranks among his people, but Giran is super humanly strong, being able to kick around normal level martial artists with ease. Thanks to the wings on his back Giran can fly as well. His final ability is to use a sticky substance produced by his body called merry Go Round Gum to subdue his opponents.

Dragon Ball: Advanced Adventure – Giran appears as a boss during the 21st World Martial Arts Tournament and is also a playable character
Dragon Ball: Origins – Giran appears as a boss during the 21st World Martial Arts Tournament and in two bonus rounds during the game, one exhibition match after the tournament and on top of Mount Pazou. On Mount Pazou Goku though Giran had blocked a river so he could invite his friends there, while in fact it was Goku who blocked the river early in the game so he and Bulma could gain access to a cave.
