From Hideaki Sorachi’s second one-shot, notably, he much more clearly resembles Gintoki Sakata (the protagonist of Sorachi’s Gintama which began serialization a few months later) whereas his previous one-shot featured a character resembling Toshi. Much like Gintoki, he is quite mysterious and sometimes comical but leaps into action when others are in danger and carries a heavy burden from his past.
