Gustave had spend the year training land animals to use against Aquaman. They included  an elephant, a gorilla, a lion and a water buffalo. The story quickly turns into an animal-control contest where Aquaman uses aquatic creatures against Gustave’s land ones.Â

The elephant was temporarily blinded by luminous fish, scaring it away. The gorilla was electrocuted by electric eels. The lion got muzzled by an octopus. Aquaman managed to override Gustave’s control of the water buffalo through telepathy. Gustave himself pulled a sword but lost a fight against a swordfish.
