Guwapo

Origin

 
Guwapo is an unhappy ugly man who has to deal with the laughs and gibes of those around them, however he is intelligent, successful and does everything to make himself sophisticated and worldly, this leads to two women coming into his life, a beautiful woman who wants to keep their relationship “discreet”, and a kindly but blind woman. Never shirking from making a decision in other areas of his life, whom he will stay with proves a however to be a difficult chose for him.

Guwapo was a series that appeared in Espesyal Komiks, It was written by Pablo S. Gomez and illustrated by Federico Javinal and was later made into a Tagalog film. It seems that the Komik may have been in part a parody of a paperback novel by the title of Handsome by American Theodore Pratt that was published three years before Guwapo.
