Hark came from a long line of scholars and sorcerers in ancient China. His family was charged with, according the legend of Hark Ah Lien, ensuring that the sun always comes up.
For a long time, the Hark family interpreted their mission in terms of protecting China. In the early 20th Century, Hark was a steadfast opponent of Western influences, bedeviling the British Empire and the United States both. It was not until he met Dr. Axel Brass that he expanded his world-view. It was not only China that needed his protection, but the entire Earth. Hark agreed to join Brass and his companions, and protect the world.
Sometime in the 1930s, Hark sired a child, although the child’s mother is unknown. When her father died in 1945, Anna Hark built his resources into a global corporation.
Hark died with Axel Brass and their teammates in January 1945, saving the world from an incursion by metahumans from another Earth.
