Going to parties, getting a girlfriend, going to high school, trying to get his hands on dad’s wheels, etc⦠the things that would concern legions of other comic teens from Archie to Con El Kent, all these things happened to Harold Teen first.
Starting in the Chicago Tribune on May 14, 1919, and running until it’s creator’s death, Carl Ed (pronounced with a long E) in 1959, Harold Teen was the first fictional character who’s main attribute was that he was between the age of 13 and 20.
As with most other Chicago Tribune funny paper characters he also had a run in Popular Comics and other four color venues.
