Henrik Vanger

Origin

Henrik Vanger is a very wealthy patriarch, and former CEO of the Vanger Corporation. Now in his twilight years, his attention has turned to a long dark family secret that tears away at his conscious: the murder and abduction of his most adored niece some 40 years prior, Harriet Vanger. Despite trying to put that terrible incident behind him, every year he is haunted by her memory with her killer taunting Henrik by sending him a pressed flower portrait every year on the same day, much like his niece Harriet use to, before her death. With vast resources at his disposal, he hires Mikael Blomkvist and Lisbeth Salander to solve the mystery of her death. He is assisted often by his housekeeper Anna Nygren.

Creation

Henrik Vanger is a fictional character created by novelist and journalist Stieg Larsson for his book series Millennium. The character would be portrayed in several movies, as well as eventually making his way to graphic novels.
