Several police officers were sent to Claridge’s home to guard him, but at midnight, Claridge dropped dead, his facial muscles contorting into a rictus grin.
Henry Claridge was the first victim in the Joker’s first appearance (though later retcons established the Joker as having killed others before Claridge).
